The 4.5 release is another MAJOR release for the makers of X-Cart Gold Software. Some of the items included in the new x-cart software release are the following:
- two new built in skins
- USPS module updated to latest USPS API requirements
- UTF-8 is now supported
- Updated shipping methods
- SQL Injection Protection
- Updated Payment Gateway integrations
- Socialize module updated and Pinterest added
There has been a lot of items removed from the shopping cart due to the PCI Compliance changes. The Subscriptions module and dozens of payment gateways have been stripped from the the system to prevent credit card processing directly in the shopping cart. This was all done to meet PCI requirements.
There are no upgrade packages between the 4.4 and 4.5 versions (at least not as of this writing). There were some talks in the forums regarding database patches, but since the core of the files have changed, and many files removed, there is no current upgrade path available from the older version.

Hands-on Web Hosting has been providing X-Cart Hosting solutions for the past decade. We have tested the new 4.5.0 release on our servers and have had no issues with the operation of the cart itself. There have been a few bugs found and reported with regards to the operation of the shopping cart, but there are no compatibility issues with the software and our servers.
